Submission Guidelines

* We read and accept submissions all year round

  1. KAAVYA publishes only original, previously unpublished work. Self-publication and work that appears online are considered to have been published.

  2. The content should be original and there should be no slander against any individual, institution or religion.

  3. Simultaneous submissions are allowed, but please notify us immediately should your work be accepted elsewhere.

  4. Please include a cover letter with your contact details:  name, address, phone number, and email.

  5. Please indicate the genre of your submission and the title(s) of your work.

  6. Poetry submissions should include no more than five poems. Word limit- anything from a Haiku to a Sonnet, to a long poem upto 40 lines.

  7. Prose submissions should include no more than one story or essay. Word Limit: upto 3000 words.

  8. Audio/ video poems:  The audio/ video files should not be longer than five minutes in  mp3 or  mp4 format files.

  9. Art submissions in jpeg files may be low-resolution images for evaluation, but artists must be able to supply high-res images for publication.  Please send only five images per submission.

  10. All submissions should be accompanied with a brief author bio, mentioning professional information, publications, and research or literary interests. Mention all major publication names (books, magazines, periodicals, newspapers) should be italicized. All minor publication names (poems, essays, articles) should be within inverted commas.

KAAVYA accepts submissions via e-mail. You can find the e-mail here.

IMPORTANT: By submitting to KAAVYA, you give us permission to use your writings, recordings, art, etc.  in our online or print publications and at our Social Media pages.

  • Poetry- text, audio and video poems

  • Short stories  

  • Non-fiction and critical or reflective essays

  • Literary criticism

  • Translations

  • Interviews

  • Conversations/ interviews with authors or artists

  • Book reviews (also books in other than the English Language)

  • Opinion pieces

  • Photographic essays

  • If your submission has not been accepted (we do read and review each submission very carefully), please wait at least three months before sending it to us again.
